Creating the Blog
1) This blog site is part of an assignment for my Visual Analytics programing class, as such, I will be posting several assignments here that aim to help me expand my understanding of Visual Analytics. Expect a lot graphs, charts and pictures.
2) A piece of visual information that caught my eye in recent weeks was the number of fortune 500 companies that countries have over the years. This chart was created by CSIS (Center for Strategic and International Studies)
This chart displays the number of fortune 500 companies that operate in different countries from 2000-2020. I found this interesting since it also helps to indicate where wealth is flowing in the world. Since fortune 500 companies are prestigious companies that generate massive amounts of income, operating in a country would naturally bring that country wealth as well. From taxes, to trickle down economics, it would help nations greatly. The chart shows the USA having fortune 500 companies leave and and China taking in over 100 fortune 500 companies in the last 20 years. I selected this scientific visualization of data because get to its point very clearly and in a detailed manner. Does not provide too much information outside of what it delivers, which allows readers to come to their own conclusions. I also helps to put world wide events into perspective.
